Have you heard the phrase “consistency is crucial?”
It is the practice of doing one thing frequently to develop a practice.
I am continually inconsistent with my swimming. It’s for the reason that swimming is not uncomplicated. I also really don’t like obtaining my hair soaked.
Significantly, I have a great deal of hair and it’s a ache to clean, comb and dry. I’d like to clean my hair only a handful of situations a 7 days — but when you are swimming in chlorine you have to wash your hair soon after each individual swim.
I have been swimming off and on for seven years. I had some very good excuses why I skipped swimming. A torn ACL, knee and cataract surgery and then COVID shutdowns. All jointly, that took me out of the pool for a couple years.
This time back again in the pool, I’ve determined the top secret is regularity. I’m starting little by little, two times a 7 days, swimming 1,000 yards — which was my warm-up in Masters. I started with kicking five days a week in my yard pool to get the hold of receiving back again in the h2o.
Then I headed to the YMCA to lap swim. I could press myself and do a lot more yards or much more days, but I’m gradually likely to develop. I went from strolling each working day to incorporating swimming and barre courses and finished up with a pulled muscle. At my age, I have uncovered my lesson.
Start off off easy, develop a routine and develop. Be consistent.
